Two Roads Brewmaster Phil Markowski has taken a road less traveled with this rye-based version of a classic Belgian Tripel. There are unique twists and turns at every corner that give our spring seasonal its unique, fruity complexity. The beer is characteristically spicy with a dry flavor and aroma thanks to the rye. The addition of American-grown Mosaic and Amarillo hops add notes of white wine, blueberries and fruit punch. We also used a noticeably fruity/spicy yeast strain that adds characteristics of pear and clove. So take the next exit for a fruity, spicy flavor and intense hop character.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark honey color with a large foamy off white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was citric and dry with musty and chalky notes. The flavor was bitter, tart and dry with faint mustiness, citrus and band aid. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

12 ounce bottle. Medium gold color. Moderate frothy white head. Sweet yeasty malt nose. Tangy fruity flavor upfront yields to subtle dryish notes. Warming alcohol n middle. Tart, grainy malt finish.

Some coriander and some florals. Pours orange with some head. Light sweet finish. A hint of oak like walnuts. Tap at Churchkey.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Aroma is lots of spicy rye over Belgian yeast, fruity esters, bubblegum, hard candy. Appearance is cloudy yellow with mild sparkle at edges of the glass, finger-width fizzy white head with fair retention and minimal lacing. Taste is similar to aroma--spiciness of the rye laid over classic yeast/ester/bubblegum tripel flavors. Am getting a little of the white wine and pear flavors referenced. A little corn chip aftertaste. Palate is light bodied with thin texture and soft to average carbonation with dry, crisp finish. Overall, you need to take your time to appreciate some of the subtleties here.

Draft at Top Hops Beer Shop, NYC. Clear gold with a white head. Aroma is fruit, citrus, Belgian yeast, and spice. Taste is spice, banana/bubblegum, and clove with some fruitiness. Decent.

This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a bronzed light copper color with a thin white cap of a head. Messy lacing.
The smell takes the rye in a nice spicy sort of way. Bubblegum, light citrus, light breadiness, some blueberries (but that comes across super light).
The taste follows the aroma more combined between the spiciness and the sweet. Dry spicy rye to bubblegum aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Carbonation felt good. Semi-dry spice hits in the harshness.
Overall, I’d say it was pretty good as a tripel. I could see myself coming back to it.

Draught @ Milk and Hops. Clear rich yellow with small foamy white head, sweet vanilla aroma, medium carbonation, typical Belgian yeast flavor with cloves, and sweetish taste, somewhat thick body, long sticky sweet finish. Very smooth and fulfilling.

Poured from bottle clear gold with a thin white head. Aromas of rye belgian yeast and sugar. Taste is sweet with rye spice up front and a lingering bitterness.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Julio’s Liquors. Bottle date of 02/ 24/2015. Crsytsal clear gold with slow carbonation level. Aroma has a decent amount of rye, Belgian yeast, residual sugar.
Flavor has a bit too much sweetness but other than that the flavors are correct. The rye tries to cut the sweetness but doesn’t get the job done. Booze is only slightly noticeable. Honestly if this brewer could cut back on the sugar they really would have a nice tripel. After about half the glass this got cloying. Finishing the last half of the bottle wasn’t easy.
