On tap pours out amber topped with a sand head. Nose is nice big malts pine citrus hops. Taste is more of the nice sweet malts and a nice hop balance.

12 oz. can, pours a cloudy amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out bready malt, with light piney and herbal hops - smells old. Flavour tastes pretty old, with bready malt, piney hops, a bit of vegetal notes, and toasted caramel. Very old school, lacking in the hops. Not overly interesting, but drinkable.

Amber colour, clean. Resiny hops and sticky, sweet caramel.
Old style IIPA, but well made.

From can to glass. Clear copper with smallish off-white head. Cloying malts from the alcohol. Could have attenuated more of the sugar out.

Deep amber and copper in colour with a large, four centimetre tall tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of biting grassy and herbal hoppiness with some big sets of alcohol, biscuits, malt, yeast, grain and pungency - this shows a lot and hops aren’t the strongest thing in there. Medium to Full-bodied; Super pungent and bitter flavours with the grain and alcohol showing through the strongest, but then showing some biscuity and nutty malts with caramel sweetness and a pungent, very bitter hop note as well. Aftertaste shows alcohol, warm sweetness from caramel and toffee and a definite earthy and pungent flavour from the malt, alcohol and hops, in that order. Overall, a decent beer at best, but this is far too pungent, malty, bitter and strong for the style or to make it worthwhile. I sampled this twelve ounce can a few minutes after returning from my first circus (and CLOWN) ever in my life, at Ringling Brothers’ Circus in Washington on 01-April-2017 with my kids, with this twelve ounce can purchased from Spec’s in Dallas, Texas on 11-November-2015 for US$3,78 sampled at home in Washington on 01-April-2017.

Finally a chance to purchase Karbach in west Texas. My first try is Rodeo Clown that I have not tasted before. Good move on my part. It goes into a tall shaker glass and is a great dark amber giving a decent beige head. I detect the hops and some toffee in the scent. The taste is strong but not crazy hops, a mango sweetness and a great fullness in the mouth. It ends with a good push of bitterness. Not in league with Dogfish Head 90 Minute but close enough. And I love the can.
