PX Ramjet Whisky Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
It’s time. When a barrel is ready, it’s ready. This variant of Ramjet, our infamous imperial stout has been aged in an exceptionally special barrel. Before housing the beer carefully for 12 months, it held a whisky made from a batch of Ramjet. And, before that, it held the most luscious Pedro Ximenez sherry from Spain. This beer is special. Not just for the barrel, or its previous inhabitants, but for the flavour, the depth of character and its overall lusciousness. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. Will keep comfortably for some years if cellared correctly.

From a 330ml bottle on 5/6/2026 (shared by Ed with thanks). Pours a deepest brown with a decent dark tan head. The nose is rich with dark chocolate, dark berries and a good whiff of whisky. It’s rinse and repeat in the sip, rich and decadent, chocolate, brown sugar, berries, dried fruit and subtle but notable whisky notes. Has a modest roasty, warming bitterness at the back. Has a thick, oily palate with moderate carbonation. Complex and really nicely balanced. Lovely.

Ramjet is infamous now? I thought it was just well known amongst a bunch of local stout likers, but apparently it has been stabbing some peeps. Anyway. Bottle. Black, a 3/2,cm tan head. Aroma of mocha and roast just ahead of whisky and berries. Hits that texture where it’s powerful yet gentle - barrel and stout have room to move. Honeycomb and oak -tinged bitter finish. Enough bitterness to suggest it will age at least 5 years. Really inviting.
