An easy-drinking American Blonde beer, the grist bill includes a healthy dose of oats and wheat. Light in body, this beer is the perfect finish to any day’s activity. 5.5% ABV. Hare hunting is a popular activity in West Virginia. While hare hunting, one could be lucky to stumble on a lot of ’hot tracks’, or unlucky with only ’cold tracks’ - tracks in the snow made by rabbits who passed through a few days earlier. There’s not much to do when there are only ’cold tracks’ being found, except drink a delicious American Blonde ale, hence the name Cold Trail Ale. The picture on the tap handle is of a bear claw hunted by one of Brian and Willie’s friend.

Bottle via trade, thanks jackl. Pours a hazy blonde color with a finger of white head. Nose is floral, grass, and faintly metallic. Tastes like a blend of a wheat ale and a golden... maybe its the oats. Grass and grain, more light metallic notes, and crispness from the wheat. Interesting combination of flavors.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a hazy bright yellow-gold color with a medium sized foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was faint tangy citrus and yeast. The flavor was tangy, citric and a bit yeasty with a chalky and tart presence. Short tangy and tart citrus finish. Light body. Not good.

Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #4. 12 ounce bottle from Bottle & Wedge, Huntington, WV. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin foamy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of pale buttery malts and canned stone fruit. The taste is pale buttery mild, cherries and mild stone fruits. Maybe a slight bit of hops. Thin-medium bodied. Meh.
