This amber colored pale ale was the first beer we brewed together, so it was only fitting to name it FIRST BITE. Generous additions of American hops, light body and a dry.finish give it plenty of flavor and aroma while still remaining highly drinkable. YOU GOT BITTEN

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club.Slightly hazy amber with a big stable frothy off white head. Pleasant citric and floral hops aroma with pine needles notes and a bit of malt. Flavor has some malt sweetness with a bit of caramel, citric hops and a nice lingering bitterness, a bit piney. Medium-bodied, maybe just a bit over-carbonated. A good well-hopped easy-drinking APA.

12 oz. bottle, bonused to me by BrewtopiaofPJ (thanks Mark), pours a clear copper golden with a small off-white head. Aroma is pretty standard, with crackery crystal malt and very mild floral hops. Flavour is almost non-existent, with metallic crystal malts and muted floral hops. Not see what the point is of making such a tasteless and boring beer. Not good.

Bottle. Pours clear orange amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is pine, caramel, honey, a touch of, ummm, urine? Flavor is the same, minus the piss, medium sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

12oz bottle pours a lightly hazy caramel amber with some sudsy, lacing white head. Nose is ok, citrus peel, blood orange, a little hay, a little dusty, grapefruit zest. Flavor is the same, something a bit like Orval which makes me think this is either an old bottle or slightly infected, heavy blood orange, dried lemon peel, a little ginger. Medium bodied, dry finish. Something a bit off.

Bottle and draft. Pours dark amber with cream white head. Nose and taste of pineapple, biscuit malt, grassy hops, toasted caramel and light resin. Finishes dry with some resin. Medium body. - I thought the flavors came out better on draft and would rate slightly higher if I took notes on the draft version. This is from the bottle.

Bottle in NYC. Pours clear, copper-gold with a creamy, off-white head. Nse is all piney hops, toasty malts and subtle caramel, along with rich melon and soft grapefruit. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong, earthy and grassy bitterness, some toast, nips of burnt caramel, dried citrus, some tangy grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat dry, somewhat resinous and sticky to finish, with tangy citrus and assertive grass. Nice.

A blonde ale with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, nice pungent butterscotch, caramel, and British hops. In mouth, a nice smooth biscuit malt with good bitter hops, nice and floral. On tap at TAP NY, April 28, 2012.
