Oktoberfest is our seasonal Marzen Style Lager. Originally brewed a couple of hundred years ago to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, we’re helping keep the tradition alive by brewing Oktoberfest every fall for our most royal/loyal followers. Blue Point Oktoberfest is a rare example of the traditional German Oktoberfest style, particularly on the East coast where autumn seasonals are more common.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville PA this beer poured a bright amber color with a small white head that faded quickly. The aroma was tangy, tart and sour malts with just a touch of fruity hops. The flavor was nutty, sour and tangy with light fruity hops and a touch of caramel. The finish was short, bitter, nutty and dryish. Ok.

On tap at the Harris Grill in EEnd Pgh. Nice find and a decent place, check it out! Slightly darker than pale yellow. tho clear, it has a a bit of orange in there. Tea froth head. Hints of sweetness in the beery aroma. Some hay in the initial taste impressions. Nice. Never gets over the top, quite nice! Fair and friendly. Not bitter like some fest beers. A tad barely bitter seems to try to put itself forward, but never quite gets there. You could not find bitter in this beer unless you were searching for it. Good tingly acceptable carbonation. Mild finish, lacking any hop character, what so ever. Overall? Not bad. Liked it! Easy to enjoy with it’s 5% alky content.

Sample at brewery tasting room. light amber color with a small head. Aroma is a basic octoberfest. You know really there is nothing special about this beer. Nothing separates this from all those numerous Octoberfests out now. A slightly more malty lager and still boring.

This stuff seems to get a little less tasty each year - this year it’s quite sweet, with a slighty metallic bitterness behind it, and a bit of diacetyl underneath the bready flavors - Hmm, quite a tasty oktoberfest - bready, sweet, lightly fruity, touch of hops for balance, thick head, medium carbonation - liquid sweetbread - nice.
