Mild bourbon and oak nose. Cloudy copper, thick sudsy tan head. Bourbon flavor. Medium body, but a little on the thin side. Maybe the barrel was new, but the bourbon dominates any pumpkin or cocoa notes that might have been there. Great beer if you like bourbon, was hoping for more nuance.

750mL bottle, pours a dark orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out cocoa nibs, very light pumpkin and some bourbon. Flavour is robust, with bourbon and vanilla notes, along with cocoa. Not really getting any pumpkin notes. This is mostly cocoa and bourbon, but it has a very light body. Not bad, but not overly interesting.

Bottle shared at RBWG Asheville Opening Night Dinner. Thanks to Jack for this one. Big stuff, lots of bread and sugar. Some wood. Minimal pumpkin character. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, more hefty malt character. So so.

Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky orange-brown color with a huge very creamy orange-cream head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was faint with sweet orange . The flavor was sweet and malty with moderate ripe fruits, chocolate and bourbon. Long finish of creamy chocolate and bourbon. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Alcohol well hidden. Very nice.

On draft at Lost Dog Cafe in McLean VA. Pours a clear amber with a thick off white head. Malty nose. A bit sour. Maybe skunked?

Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours a gold with some spitty, white head. Nose is mild, wood, yam, spice, all mild. Flavor is sweet, spicy, booze. A little odd.

Bottle courtesy of Dave & Michelle, thanks! Cloudy golden amber color, large fluffy white head, solid lacing. Aroma of salted pretzels, I am not kidding. Taste starts with light vanilla, spice, slight booze at the finish. Tasty.

Draft at the VA Craft Brewers Festival, Devils Backbone, 8/24/13. Pours a hazy orange color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pumpkin, chocolate, whiskey, herbal hops. The taste is chocolate, mild pumpkin, whiskey, caramel, spice. Medium bodied, subtle, well balanced. Very nice.
