Bottle from Joyful Honda in Tatebayashi, called Irish Ale. Dark brown colour with a small golden bubbly head. Aroma is roasty, bit of milky chocolate, slightly savoury (my usual soy sauce thing that I smell in beers), and creamy too. Taste is nice, milky chocolate again with a touch of graininess. Quite thick and rich, but very easy to drink. Pretty good and would definitely have it again.

Coffee and nuts. Medium bitterness and some nutty oily sweetness. In the long finish the bitterness kicks in again. A little too thin though. Ok.

Tap at CBM Koenji. Pours a deep brown/black with a tan head that lasts throughout. Roasted malt, roasted coffee and cacao are all over the nose. Some granola like character as well (toasted dried fruit). Full body is rich and creamy with a nice dry and smooth finish that lingers. Really tasty.

Keg at Popeye, Tokyo. Near black, small head. Chocolate and licorice in the nose. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Earthy and oily with licorice and chocolate. Mid bitter finish. Deeply malty with a full array of roasty flavours.

Draught at Castle West. Thick, fine, pretty and inviting tan head on a shiny black beer. Lightly roasty, nutty aroma with chocolate and cream. Sweet flavor with chocolate, wood, rather light roasting, some root beer. Lightish body, though full and creamy. Not something to move you, but a very drinkable and tasty sweet-side stout.

Dark with a large tan head. Coffee, molasses, chocolate, roasted malts with some toasted, too. Flavor is very similar to the aroma with the chocolate and molasses coming through. Very smooth. An easy drinking, tasty stout. Will give it a go again.
