Jopen Barmhartige Samaritaan – American Barley Wine, 11,5% – 33cl

Bottle shared at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Nir A. for this bottle! Deep red-amber. Caramel, malt, stale hops, some cookies, some fruitiness, sweet, a bit of alcohol, bitter finish, chewy, rounded mouthfeel. Pretty nice.

Bottle. Nose is grapes, pine, carmel, brown sugar. Sweet and sugary with lots of pine and resins. Simple and sweet but not much complexity. A bit disappointing.

Very simple brown sugar water malty beer that doesn’t offfer a lot. Why bother?

Bottle shared at Maakun’s, "Don’t take that THT away from me"-tasting. Black with greyish head. Sweet toasted malts, caramel, plastics, soapy, spices, resin, quite hoppy, nettle bitter. Medium sweet and light bitter. Full body, soft carbonation. Malty and slick. Weird stuff. Gets better over time.

Draught at Taphouse. Dark amber colour with a thin lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, toasted notes, a vineous touch, fruits. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes slightly dry with caramel malts and a toasted note. Okay.

Draft. A brown beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel sauce, plums, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel sauce, alcohol, and malt, leading to a dry woody finish.
