Maple-Kissed Wheat Porter is a medium-bodied porter that tastes amazingly smooth and velvety. The rich and creamy mouthfeel is a result of the wheat used in the brewing process. Local maple syrup gives this beer just a hint of palate-pleasing sweetness as well as a nice depth of flavor. We call this beer “maple-kissed” because we use just the right balance of maple syrup to impart a delicious flavor without the beer becoming sweet.

Bottle shared on the bus during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Quite mediocre, although I suspect this beer has an infection setting in (not too surprising since the only other beer I’ve had from this brewery was also infected). Pours light, hazy brown with a foamy head. Some earthy bitterness present, mild tangy semi-dark malts, leaves, bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Bland finish, some leafy bitterness and dry bread. Meh.

Bottle - Sweet smoke and maple. Cloudy brown with a brown head. Sweet roast grains and a touch of maple. This wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

Bottle on the 2014 RBWG bus. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of maple and dark grains with a touch of wheat. Flavor is similar with a smooth dark grain and maple note with a bit of earthiness.

Bottle courtesy of AirForceHops. Smoky maple, chocolate, and creamy mocha aroma. Deep mahogany with a moderate tan head. Maple, coffee malt, caramel, and earthy ash flavor. Medium body and carbonation. My family runs a small maple syrup operation, so I’m all about the maple. This is an interpretation of a porter that works well for me.

Combined score based on 22 oz. bottle and draft. Deep brown color with small tan head, producing spotty lace down the glass. Nose is rich roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor has maple sweetness back by roasted malt and wheat characters. The wheat gives the flavor a different kind of feel for a porter. It’s really a contradiction between wheat beer and porter. However, I think it’s unique and real tasty. Well worth a try!
