Bowler is our tribute to the original IPA. Built on a foundation of Maris Otter, Simpsons Crystal, and Biscuit malt, it delivers layers of fresh bread crust, light toffee, and subtle biscuit character that provide the backbone for classic English hopping. East Kent Goldings leads the charge with its signature earthy, floral, and marmalade-like notes, while a touch of European Perle adds a delicate herbal spice and crisp bitterness. The result is a balanced, highly drinkable IPA that showcases the elegance and restraint of the style that started it all and laid the groundwork for the contemporary styles we all know and love.

Pint can pours with a clear copper colored body that supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma offers up crystal malts, a bit of caramel malts and then spicy to floral hoppiness followed by a bit of biscuit malts. The taste is largely sweet to nutty crystal malts flowing into a thin sweet caramel malt sensation. To midway a pleasing level of bitter hop spiciness teams up with the malts to create an interesting character reminiscent of IPA of a prior century. It also picks up some biscuit like maltiness as it dries out fairly well into the finish. I'd prefer if the crystal and caramel malts were dialed back a bit. Solid 6.2% abv offering.
