12oz bottle. Deep opaque brown body. Thin, soapy, beige head. Red fruit, caramel aroma. Pretty solid flavor, just lacks the effervescent body of a good Belgian example. The sorghum leaves a sort of odd telling tone in the aftertaste. Red wine notes aren't really welcome or desirable. Not so bad for a US brewpub-ish example, but not so impressive compared to the real thing.

Woody and a little astringent. Some sugary sweet malt. Pours clear brown with ok head and lacing. Some spice here but not a wonderful dubbel. Bottle.

Dark brown coloured body with bright violet highlights and a thin tan head. Very nice when held up to the light. Aroma of bananas, yeast, bread, malt, alcohol and quite a bit of sugars. Medium-bodied; Very assertive roasted malt flavour with some nuts and earth and a relatively light feel with raisins and some of the yeast flavour at the end. Aftertaste shows a bit of an earthy character with peat and concord grapes, but little else - surprisingly weak. Overall, smells and looks great, but the flavour simply isn’t there - nor is any complexity or nice robust flavours. Sadly enough, worth passing up - not a great offering from the otherwise good brewery. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 07-February-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 29-March-2013.

Mild roast aroma. Black pour, headless. Burned toast and charcoal flavor. Medium body, somewhat quaffable. Subtle dry plum notes in the finish. Much drier and substantially less fruity than typical dubbels. Enjoyable.
