Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

Very hazy amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is softish and airy with mild carbonation. Fresh orange hops, little pith and marmalade. Touch of grapefruit. Mild malt cream underneath. Finishes soft with mild bitterness. Just a really nice fresh IPA.

can - Pours cloudy yellow with a small off-white, lingering head that laces well. The aroma is of citrus hops and a slight herbal character. The flavor has good bitterness with a little citrus and an earthy note. It’s medium bodied and overall a solid IPA.

Bottle. Caramel malt and orange peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Mildly sweet orange-caramel malt and moderately bitter orange peel/quinine flavor. Okay.

Pours cloudy apricot with a fast, tan head. Scent is caramel, orange, peach. Taste is a little sticky citrus peel. Very soft bittering...90 IBU, eh....?...right. A strong dose of fruit juice. Tasty, but average.

Draft sample: STILL have some notes from the 2011 Midwest Brewers Fest. A little darker and cloudier than the Uinta WYLD I just had. Thin, clingy head of foam. Smell shows some good Cascades, a little citrus and pine. Good citrusy hop taste to it too. Caramel malts and crystal involved in sending it down very nicely. A lot more hop in the backstop.

can. to be honest, I have no idea of it’s color/appearance - I went straight from the can. Very solid IPA - smooth, yet hoppy. Super easy to drink. Liked it.

Draft at Taps 25, Lansing. Hazy, dirty medium orange body, thick puffy cream head. Piny nose; also citrus rind. Sweet, citrusy body, with strong tangerine/orange notes (including pulp and rind), almost candied. Fair bitterness, just enough to balance the citrus sweetness. Solid body, well-balanced and crisp. Good IPA.

Can. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a finger of thick white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and light pine. Taste is light bitter. Citrus and pine. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not too bad. Ive had some good beers from finch and this is another.
