12 oz bottle purchased as a single at Growler’s Craft Beer & Ales in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The pour is a lightly hazed golden orange, with a smallish white head. The aroma is lightly caramel malt, and a faint whisper of citrus hops. As the beer warmed, the caramel found a bit of fruit sweet. The taste was pretty flabby, the caramel, light toast malt followed by a grass mild citrus. The palate is medium to light bodied, soft carbonation, and a sweet dry finish. Tasted a bit more like an English Pale Ale.

12 oz. can courtesy of queenholly. Hazy amber / gold color with thin white head. Nose is pine resin with some bread malt hiding underneath. The flavor is pine and weak citrus hops with bland malt. Backbone of the beer is toasted grain / corn. Light resin finish.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Charleston Beer Works, 12/8/12

Aroma: The nose has lots of sweet malts, some caramel, fruity notes, yeast, and toffee
Appearance: This one pours a slightly hazy golden-orange color, with a foam laced off-white head
Flavor: The taste is pretty sweet, with some fruity notes, and a slightly metallic bitterness
Palate: This beer has a medium body, with a soft carbonation, and a lengthy, off, metallic finish
Overall Impression:  Overall, this one was not a favorite for me. It is missing any of the wanted citrus or resiny hop bitterness that one might enjoy in this style. Also, it just doesn’t come off clean at all, and the metallic feel takes away from the enjoyment. I didn’t hate it, but it was a mediocre at best example of the style for me.

Seems more English than American Pale Ale, with a lot of malt piling up on top of a piney, mildly citric finish. The malts are grainy and pretty nice, but more hops are needed on the finish to tighten up the brew. (2/08)

12 ounce bottle courtesy of afausser. Thanks! Pours a hazy pale orange color, hazy, with some rather significant floating particles. These guys don’t filter much, which is cool with me. Medium head with fair head retention and lacing. The aroma is somewhat faint with caramel and leafy hops. The taste is caramel with citrus hops and a tea-like note in the finish. Light bodied and just the slightest bit watery.

Bottle. Medium gold body with a fizzy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Caramel, toasted grain aroma with a note of floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes ligtly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Tastes of bready malts with sweet caramel followed by bitter leaves. Medium body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Nice bitter bite at the end, but overall overly sweet.

Dark amber, little head. Malt dominates nose, lots of caramel and some dark fruits. Little hop aroma or flavor, malt dominates flavor as well. Lots of caramel, rather sweet, dark fruits. Strong hop bitterness kicks in, especially in the finish, very bitter, though little aroma. Interesting, sweet and rich, almost chewy pa.
