Bottle @ Lost Coast tasting at Artisan Wine Depot. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is of citrus hops, caramel and lightly roasted malts. Flavor is medium sweet caramel, toffee, citrus, floral hops, with some smokey notes. Light bitter finish. Hoppier than most ambers I have tried.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark, hazy orange with a medium, off-white, foamy head. The aroma is caramel, ripe bananas, salt water, and faint coffee. The flavor is bitter, a little sweet, and has a hard mineral note. The palate is medium, astringent, sticky and hard. Overall, this is a fair amber ale, but the flavor and palate are a little unpleasant.

June 2010: Bottle obtained from a Lee’s Discount Warehouse in Las Vegas and driven across the border into Utah for tasting. Walking all day in Bryce Canyon, I knew I’d want something proper to drink during the evenings and Utah’s 4%ABV laws didn’t seem to cry out to me very much, so that is why I took some decent beers into the state with me, this one included. Poured a few times into my motel plastic toothbrush tumbler the beer appeared an amber colour (but not catty), on top of each pour sat a tan coloured head. The smells given off were of sweet molasses reminding me of toffee and malted bicuits. Strangely the first taste was a hop bitterness, a tangy unexpected hit considering the aroma. Slowly the sweetness from the smell took over and balanced out the original hop hit. Pleasant without setting the world alight and at 5.5%ABV no problem driving in the morning.

Bottle. Berry and barley malt aroma with a hint of hops. Amber color with small head. Lightly sweet caramel malt and moderately bitter herbal hops flavor. Light body. Okay but pretty light.

Draught at Tadg’s. Fruity, estery and citrus nose, earthy, with a bit of caramel. Nice aroma. Bright amber color with a nice, thick, low head. Decent hop flavor, very fruity, with peach, orange. Good fruit, but rather sweet, with toffee. Not very bitter or hoppy at all. Better in the beginning than the end. The nose is better than the taste, and it gets boring, but ok.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Nice aroma of cookie-ish malt and citric and slightly piney hops. Flavor starts with some caramel malt sweetness and finishes with moderate bitter hops, somewhat grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Flavor could use a bit more depth, but it’s still a decent tasty Amber Ale.

Bottle. Poured hazy amber with a beige head. Sweet caramel and citrusy hops aroma. Flavor was sweet malt, some orange, and a very subtle hops finish.. Light bodied with a carbonated tingle. Overall simple, but still nice.
