In playful pursuit of butterflies a Red Fox danced across the brewery hill. His joy so pure it bubbled through our hearts and into this beer. Laughing Fox is a sparkling Kristal Weizen brewed in the Bavarian tradition with 50% Wisconsin wheat in our open top fermenters. Tickle your nose notes of spicy clove and cinnamon abound. Dan’s inspired Weizen interpretation reflects the deep bittersweet color of our Fox’s red coat.
Expect this beer to pour a lively effervescent glass thick with creamy foam and bursting with luscious fruity notes on your pallet. This is easy drinking beer perfect for a friendly Wisconsin evening. Relax, this is God’s Country, here we have the strength to reach for the stars and change the world.

Why would they do a kristalweizen? Characteristic New Glarus wheat quality and yeast, but lacking palate. Aroma and flavor are thin and lacking, there is just not much there. Well carbonated, and a big white head. Copper color. It is almost like a small beer. It is drinkable, and no real flaws, but not not one I especially enjoy. One of the few misses from Neww Glarus.

Bottle: Dark copper color with a thin beige head. Mostly malts and some wheat, I did get a little bit of the crisp spiciness from the cloves, but nothing more.

Bottle. Big, fizzy, off-white head atop a clear amber body. Pleasant aroma of banana, cherry, toasted grain, earthiness, clove. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Lots of banana flavor with a tartness in the finish. Very clean and plenty going on in this 4.5% beer to keep it interesting.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed a couple of days prior to the holiday break. Appearance a rather clear dark copper with a rich off white head with tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top. Aroma mostly malt, there is a spice backing, little bit of cinnamon, smells holiday like. Taste very smooth, really nice crisp bready/hay malt finish, retains that weiss like quality but more malty. Full bodied with medium carbonation, really nice easy drinker. It’s equally smooth and crisp, and it’s above average in both of those qualities. For a lightish beer I can’t think of many that would beat this. Definitely the best for its style.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of bnielsen13. Thanks Brad! Clear copper orange appearance with a big creamy, brown head. Dry wheat malty, a touch metallic, mild clove, lightly spicy, effervescent aroma. A touch tangy, mild orange citrusy, somewhat spicy, clove, dry, wheat malty flavor that again seems fairly metallic. Not a bad session beer but I far prefer its German counterparts.

Bottle courtesy of Tripplebrew. Used my Hacker-Pschorr Weisse glass. Translucent Amber color, massive head and lace. Traditional nose and taste of a Kristall Weizen. Lots of aromatic banana character, with clove and cinnamon. Light body with a clean and refreshing finish. Another well-made wheat beer from this brewery.

12oz bottle. Right off the bat I’d say this doesn’t look like any Kristalweizen i’ve ever seen. Amber-tan, attractive creamy off-white head. The aroma is fresh and clean, light and doughy..very non pronounced in a good way. Not unlike the Cracked Wheat, the amber malt tones shine through once again Very fresh and lively, a touch of wheaty tartness. Almost approaching a Belgian Singel. Quite a nice beer, but not really a Krystalweizen, so why call it that? Well executed, and highly sessionable.

Bottle courtesy of cbfobes. Thanks! Pours a crystal clear amber color with a large frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big clove notes, stone fruits, earthy notes, banana, caramel and a bit of smoke. Bit citrus and caramel in the taste, some stone fruits, banana, berries and a faint bit of smoke. Tart finish with a mild hoppiness. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Very well done.
