A very modern, exemplary West Coast IPA, a beer full of flavor featuring the latest “hot” hop released (Krush) and dripping with dankness (pungent and resinous), slightly stronger at 6.6 abv.
Our take on a West Coast IPA. Leaning into what’s loud with something new – it smells like someone cracked open a bag of fresh hops and didn’t bother closing it. Built around Krush hops, it’s full-bodied by design. Think waves of grapefruit, resin, and unmistakable dankness. A little extra umph at 6.6% with a confident bitterness (and zero interest in dialing it back).

Plenty of Lagunitas WC IPAs back in the day, Hop Stoopid anyone? So now it is time to try a "modern" West Coast IPA from Heineken, excuse me, I mean Lagunitas. A single 12 oz can from the local beer shop, Mr. T's, my Cowtown snifter ready for the pour. The body shows an indistinct, lemon yellow body topped with a good head of completely white foam. Nice scent, hoppy, plenty of pine, citrus and grass. The taste is throwback to the early IPAs. Grapefruit, cedar, resin, a touch of lime and something earthy. Bitter enough. For a basic IPA, not imperial, it is rather decent. I will be good to drink this one again.

Pour is a cloudy golden with a large white head. Aroma is grapefruit and honey malt. Flavor is more grapefruit and maybe a little pineapple in there. Finish is dank and bitter. Pretty good West Coast IPA.

Yellow body with lasting white head. Hoppy aroma, citrus and resin. Hoppy taste, rolls all over your mouth. Dank finish

Odd to see Lagunitas—one of the OG purveyors of west coast IPAs—call this beer “our take on a west coast IPA”. Kinda like Ford introducing a new sedan and saying “We finally made a car!” No rest for marketing bullshit, I guess.
Pretty good regardless, offering up an earthier, more piney IPA than regs Lagunitas IPA, with a good citrus-tropical front end and just enough sweetness to round out the pint. Doesn’t reinvent the wheel but still a tasty pint.

12 oz can, thanks Brenn. Aroma is tangerine, pineapple, biscuity. Pours lightly hazy golden with a one finger bone-white head with decent retention. Taste is mildly to moderately bitter with flavors of citrusy hops.
