0.33 L can, Boatswain Double I.P.A. clear dark amber colour, one inch of creamy ecru-ish head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of marmalade, pine resiny, some raisins, maybe slight prune and grapefruity notes; taste of hoppy bitterness with similar notes to the aroma; not that bad - either I drink a different beer, or it is consierably underrated

Can labeled as Boatswain Double IPA, from Trader Joe's. Pours clear dark yellow-orange with large foamy light beige head, malt aroma with faint caramel, adequate carbonation, bitter malty taste with light citrus flavor, bit of alcohol aftertaste, thin body, long bitter finish with abit of throat burn. Decent.

Dark golden with a white head - malt and hops in the aroma - malt body with some hops that has herbal notes - The herbal hop flavours goes into the finish that ends dry - This was ok

Weird contract brew stuff I guess, I'm having this as Rhinelander's Boatswain Double IPA. Can. I guess this is the same beer as the Minhas. Amber, chill haze, modest head. Nose is yeasty, weird fruit, flavor similar, semi-sweet, grainy, indistinct pale fruit, no real hop aromatics at all. Maybe some light grassy flavors but nothing in the nose. Bitterness is just enough for balance but the beer as a whole is leaning sweet to nearly cloying - I mean, really, what the fuck? Who made this and thought they made a DIPA recipe? It comes across like a high alcohol amber ale, or really, almost just a malt liquor. Kinda bad really.

Misty deep golden to amber with a moderate white head. Aroma and taste: honey, nectar, candied citrus fruit. Medium sweet. Medium bitter. Below average but underrated indeed.

12oz can from Trader Joe's as 'Boatswain Double IPA, Twin Screw Steamer'. Poured into a Duvel glass on 30th March 2019 while in California. I thought this was pretty good. Clear golden copper body, white fluffy head. The nose held malt s and hop esters in equal measures, the taste also a 50/50 blend of malty sweetness and hop bitterness. Some light citrus flavours within the resinous piney hop base. Another decent 're-brand for Trader Joe.

Drank as Rhinelander Boatswain Double IPA. Supposed to hate this beer, I guess, but it’s not undrinkable, presenting an odd imperial wheat ale boozy clove-n-vanilla base with an outsized yeasty tartness and modest citrus hop notes. Confusing, sure, but not horrible, even if calling it a Double IPA seems almost treasonous among beer geeks. Would I actually buy a sixer? No. But if you’ve tried any of Walmart’s trouble brewing swill, you’ll appreciate that you can at least finish this pint.
