This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it’s like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

On tap at a downtown Hendo restaurant with the wife. Frothy head, hazy lemon pour. Fresh orange juice & herbal nose. Surprisingly strong orange. Bittersweet, slight confectionery sweetness, middling acid, customary dusty finish but pushy carb for once. Kinda good.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Yellow-gold with a carbonation and next to no head. Its Belgian styling is best in its nose, with a slightly more lager feel in taste. Its spiciness is evident but light.

High hopes for this bottle, sounds yummy from the label. Smell is mildly yeasty. Very nice witbier presentation for the eye. Virtually room temperature, but even from the taste-start I feel like this is going to be civilized and refined. Pleasant and fun with just a tiny hint of banana. I’m liking this session. Hides alky well. Some ever so mild banana perfume on the nose now. Right up there with shiner white wing and anky’s white out. Not bad! Would like another. Good, but not as good as Hoegaarden, East End Witte, Wittekerke or Blanche de Namur

Bottle: Hazy light gold with a small white head. Grain....honey/lemon scent. Sweet grain malt flavour......not very citrusy....not very lively. Forgettable, at best.

Bottle. Lactic lemon, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet milky lemon, coriander, wheat malt, and straw flavor. Light body. Okay but pretty bland.

Alisa brought this one back for me from a trip to North Carolina. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was egg white, dust, lemon and cracker. The flavor was musty, pepper, coriander, yeast and sweet honey. Long finish. Medium body. Solid.

Draft. Cloudy yellow body, white head. Aroma of coriander, toasted grain, soap, floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, lively carbonation. Gummy in the mouth with a soapy aftertaste. Light coriander taste.

Multiple 12oz bottles consumed at a wedding in NC this past weekend. Poured a light golden color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of light grain, sweet, crispness, light orange notes. Flavor was light sweet zesty notes, wheat, and a little tartness. Perhaps not my first choice, but it quenched my thirst when it was nearly 100 degrees and I had to wear a tux for an outdoor wedding.
