Mmm. It's like toasted oatmeal. So thick you can chew it.

From Aug 2006

Poured from 12oz bottle a clear very dark brown with amber hues
and a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving a fine layer
with good lacing.

The smell is all roasty and toasty and has big notes of hot chocolate.

The taste is really big. Roasted malt and a semi sweet molasses grab my taste buds right from the go and there's a hop bitterness that doesn't show up for me until near the finish but it does give the over all presentation of this oatmeal stout the proper umphh.

Bottom line: This is a sample of the style that everyone should try given the chance.

Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is rich roasted malts with hint of coffee grounds. Appearance is dark, dark, dark brown--almost black, and opaque. No head and no lacing. Taste is medium sweet with bittersweet smoky and coffee-like finish. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is really nice. Appearance could be better with some kind of head but, other than that, this is pretty strong all around.

One of the first oatmeal stouts I’ve ever had that was worth having more than one. I think this would go great in an ice cream.

Bottle from Half Time Beverage, New York. Pours a deep dark brown with a small brown head which soon disappears to nothing. Aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, licorice and coffee. Not too sweet, fairly heavy on bitterness initially. Relatively thin bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. Worth bringing back to uk.

Black, amber edges. Ashy and bakers chocolate aroma. Great flavor. Clean and balanced. Roast throughout with the finish a roasted marshmallow and graham cracker. Hint of vanilla and toffee

Bottle. Dark brown colour, small spongy dark amber head, coffee bean aroma, creamy coffee taste, average carbonation, nice long finish. A very remarkable beer indeed!

Pours a solid dark brown with a faint garnet brown highlight when held to light. A smallish off white head froths then quickly recedes leaving spotty lace on the way down. The aroma from this beer is quite intoxicating. Toasty and roasty grains with hints of caramel and chocolate balanced by a bit of earth and a hint of dark fruit. The flavor is roasty and chocolate with bits of bread, caramel, and toffee. There’s a light fruity sweetness with enough dry roastiness to provide great balance. Light earthy hop flavor with little to no apparent hop bitterness. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a dry grainy roasty mouthfeel. This beer smells incredible and tastes pretty good too.
