We named this beer as a Halloween seasonal brew, but its refreshing taste makes it a year round staple. Zombie is made according to the Belgian Witbier tradition of using unmalted wheat to create the light body and white sheen. Additions of coriander and orange peel give Zombie a fruity and spicy character, while the hops are subtle and lightly detected. Don’t be scared to crush some Zombies!

Hazy pale yellow color. Slightly sweet aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet wheat beer and light bitter citrus with a subtle spice. Good example of witbier. Easy drinking.

Rachel brought this one back from a trip to KY +++ Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a cloudy pale yellow color with a medium sized fluffy yellow white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish with lemon, orange, pineapple, dust and tropical fruit. The flavor was sweet with lemon, orange, yeast, a bit of white pepper, faint mustiness and tropical fruit. Medium length finish. Medium body.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 7/28/2017. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, orange peel, pear, red apple, melon, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, orange peel, pear, red apple, melon, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/citrus peel bitterness, yeast spiciness, and wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange peel, pear, red apple, melon, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and creamy/bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very nice witbier. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Very well balanced between all flavors. A very enjoyable offering. Very classic tasting spot on style example.

Hazy golden coloured body with a thin white head, about two centimetres tall. Aroma of wheat, light perfume and spice with some lavender, herbs and a dose of oregano in the mix as well with some lighter malts and a dose of grass as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong wheatie and grassy flavours with perfume and funk at first with a very mild malt profile with some light grain and herbal flavours towards the end with a very dry and grassy finish. Aftertaste shows some light coriander seed, curacao, a touch of bubble gum and grasses and only a touch of grain noticeable at the end. Overall, a nice and very light beer with a ton of grassy and light spice flavours and some mild sugars, with very little else, aside from some wheat and a bit of yeast as well with some breadie notes. Good to sample, especially in the summertime, with some light flavours, but goes down quite easily. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Grape Vine in Fort Mill, South Carolina on 21-August-2017 for US$1,89 after watching the Eclipse in South Carolina, sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in Pungoteague, Virginia on 20-April-2018.

Pours an amber from a tap. Nondescript grainy aroma. Light yeast noted in the flavor, doughy. Effervescence dissipates rather quickly. Good beer.

Can from BP Garage, Acton, North Carolina. Hazy paler golden with a small to thin head. Perhaps its the can, but the witbier character is lacking despite the fact its style is essentially there. There’s little flavour to it.
