The Upland Dragonfly IPA is a malty and hoppy brew. Note the clean malty fullness on the front of the palate with fruity citrus overtones, attributable to our special hops. Dry hopping creates a floral aroma, and our use of bittering hops lends a strong bitter taste in the back of the tongue and throat.

On tap at the Bloomington Beer Festival. Poured golden amber with a slightly off-white head. Aroma was very hoppy with an earthy pine aroma. Flavor was full of hops as well giving a flavor similar to the aroma.

Bottle thanks to thirdeye11. Pours with a clear golden body and a small white head. Aroma of honeysuckle, citrus and caramel. Taste is grainy with a bit of alcohol poking through, and some citrus hops. Dry residual sugar and light bubbles.

Pour is a bright orange with a small white head. Aroma is floral hops with some toasted malt. Flavor is a light hop with a strong malt backbone. This is just average at best as the malts dominate anything the hops bring to the table.

Thanks to nearbeer for picking this one up for me. Pours out an ample sized off-white head that sits above a hazy deep orange Muted citrus hop aroma, some faint pine. The flavor balance is towards the bitter side, some drying in the finish along with an ever present astringent factor that detracts. A tad over carbonated for my tastes.

Bottle (rerate can). Peach and apple malt and grapefruit hops aroma. Cloudy orange amber color with large, long-lasting head. Moderately sweet orange/peach malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel/pine flavor. Nice body. Solid IPA.

Slightly hazy amber with off-white head. Floral nose with notes of grapefruit, pine and caramel. The flavor comes off much more sweet than bitter. Medium body. Very lively carbonation. Nice beer, but too malty and overly carbonated for my preferences in an IPA.

bottle - The first few reviews seem to indicate heavy hops, so I wonder if this beer has changed over the years. It pours up light amber, a little bit hazy. The head is small with a little lacing. Hops are obvious in the aroma. The taste, however, is surprisingly dominated by the malt. That’s not what one would expect from an IPA. Don’t get me wrong, the hops is definitely there and I like the beer, but the bitterness is quite subdued for the style. Major hopheads would be disappointed. There’s also a bit of citrus flavor and a fairly crisp finish. This is a good session brew.

Let me start off by saying that I sampled several beers from this brewer over the past weekend... and all of them taste the same (in a way). There’s an underlying burnt-rice flavor to all of their beers that I just can’t get past. Bottle. Floral aroma? Not really... smells malty... too malty. Flavor: yep, it’s loaded with malts and burnt rice. Oh, what a disappointment when I was trying to get a friend to try his first IPA.
