This rich, Northwest-style Pale Ale is a rare feat of balance: unfiltered, dry-hopped to 40 IBUs, and deliciously seasonable. Groove on this two-time Great American Beer Festival® Gold Medal winner (2001 and 2002 Bitter Category). It really smooths out the bumps.

On tap at the Airport pub. Pours a near clear golden amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of grain and grass with a touch of earthiness underlying. Flavor has grass and light grain throughout with s hint of pine underlying in the finish.

On tap at the River Room. Poured out with a thick head, needed a spoon to clear enough off to finish the pour. Hops aren’t as apparent in the nose as in the taste. Fairly bitter for an APA, crisp, clean. Body is on the lighter side.

Can. It’s an unclear, golden-orange beer with a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has hop pellets, pine cones, orange zest and some hints of pale wort. Piney and lightly orange peel-ish flavor with malt notes and a decent bitterness. Medium to full-bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. Lasting finish. A bit too much on the hop pellet side this one, but nice anyway. Impressive body for a beer this weak. Quenching. 140613
