At Brugs Beertje. Flemish red (’oud bruin’) with lacing, egg-white, thick head and very dark burgundy colour with bronze hue, misty. Aroma of passion fruit, chestnuts, unripe gooseberry, dried banana, redcurrant, port wine touch, red wine vinegar. Red and dark berry tartness in the mouth, sweet and sourish well in balance with each other, soft carbo, hint of dried plum, caramelly maltiness with a nutty accent while the tartness continues in a drying, yet elegant and not too acidic way. Leite has understood what oud bruin is about, though it could do with more finesse and complexity still.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox.com . No gusher in this case. Pours intense, dark redbrown. Big white head. Smell is fleshy. Taste is sharp, sour, intense fleshy, some oak, some fruits. Very overcarbonated, which is a sad thing, cause otherwise this beer is very nice! Would be totally awesome with a bit more body though. Somewhat dry finish.

33cl Bottle from Prik&Tik Baelus. Gusher. Dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of lots of spices, cinnamon, gale, cardamom, cola, vinegar, balsamic vinegar, sour cherries. Smells infected (read: unintended). Flavour is wood, sourness, vinegar, stale red wine, cinnamon, cola, acetic and bitter finish. Light bodied. Too harsh far me, and I don’t think this beer was intended to be sour in the first place. I’ve had beers from ’t Koelschip that tasted the same.

330 ml. bottle sampled @ BBF 2014. Dark brown, big mocha bubbles. Noticeably sour nose, sour dark cherries, cacao, mocha,… Taste is light vinegar sourness, light dark cherries, mocha, chocolate, light hint of iron, touch thin,… Good but could be even richer & more decadent but quite a nice beer all the same.
