In this northern German style retro altbier, we’ve dialled down the dry-hops to zero, but cranked up the malt to create massive aromas. Toasty, toffee and floral notes duke it out for supremacy in the headspace of your glass.

When this alt hits your palate, the steely bitterness combines with the rich dry malt and the subtle alcohol warmth in a full throttle attack on your taste buds.

Malts: Carafa, Extra Pale, Munich
Hops: Hersbrucker, Magnum

Monday 27th May 2024, Shrewsbury Beer Share in Chez Sophie, five guys drinking beer and talking bollox. 33cl bottle from minutemat's vault, a blast from the past. Brewed in 2015 I believe, it still looked and tasted like an Altbier, a little mellow maybe, but it's stood up well to it's cellaring.

Backlog January 2016. Bottle. Clear, deep golden body under a nice tan head. Aroma has bread, malt and a bit herbal. Taste is sweet malt, some fruitiness and decent bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. Not very exiting but fair enough.

Figs, toffee, raisins, brown sugar, burnt caramel, roasted nuts. Bit head-on and harsh.

Bottle from Pivný raj. Good looking retro beer with caramel notes in aroma. Taste is okay, but there's some soap like ending. What a pity.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Clear dark amber, beige head. Caramel, dms-y malts and some dark fruit. Plain and simple, no hops. Taste: moderately sweet fruity caramel, toasted sweet bread, solid dry lingering bitterness. Simple. Not bad.
