Dry-Hopped India Pale Ale Conditioned on Virginia Tulip Poplar Wood from CitiWood Urban Forest Products

Hardywood Hoplar is mahogany in color with a hearty, tan head and offers an aroma of grapefruit brûlée and pine needles, as well as delicate vanilla toffee and a hint of campfire. Medium- to full-bodied with assertive (100 IBUs) yet delightful hop bitterness, Hoplar is balanced with ample caramel malt backbone. A bit of earthy tannin from the Poplar harmonizes with the resinous hoppy character, which dissipates into a lingering finish.

75cl bottle share @ SHAPE NFL Fantasy Draft. Thanks Steven.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear orange, large creamy beige head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, dankness. Flavor medium sweet, pine, grapefruit, fully bitter with a long lasting bitter finish. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. A bit hot overall, and honestly I did not get any direct overt impact of the wood.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Hazy copper-amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Oaky aroma with citrus and malt notes. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, caramel malt and oak. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Pinsky, 10/6/13

Aroma: It has a nice pine/wood aroma, almost sprucy, some earth, and a little spice
Appearance: Pours a caramel-orange color with a thick, frothy beige head and plus lace
Flavor: The taste is plenty hoppy, nice pine/spruce-like flavor, good bitterness to it
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a creamy feel, average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I really liked this one a lot. Great hop flavor from the poplar. I really liked the way this worked. Excellent stuff. Makes me want to lick a tree.
