The following weekend, deep-blue waves are in front of you, golden sand is sinking beneath your feet and your gaze is fixed upon the horizon. While sipping on a lime Shandy Carib, the crisp sea breeze whispers sweet nothings into your ear. The stress of a hectic week is washed away as the foam of the surf tickles your feet and then playfully retreats. This rejuvenating break is exactly what you needed!
A great lager beer is by itself a treasure but a great beer combined with the zing of ginger, the festive and spicy sweetness of sorrel or the revitalizing kick of lime creates winning and classic combinations. This is what the Carib brewery introduced in 1985 – an instant classic. The authentic taste of this light alcoholic beverage is a consumer favourite because its delightful and unique burst of flavours reconnects consumers with fun and memorable times with family and friends.

Fake ginger like Geri Halliwell. Tastes like pop really. Golden pour. Fizzy. Sweet finish. Bottle at Shakers in Port of Spain.

330ml bottle from Asda - Clear amber body, no head, loads of fizz. Nose is lots of ginger sugar, sweet lemonade and old stale beer. Taste is sickly sweet, but with a decent warming finish. I was expecting it to be poor, but hey... it isn’t that bad.

330ml bottle. Pours gold with no head. Aroma is warm, soapy ginger. Taste is sweet and sugary, with some ginger on the finish and cardboard on the aftertaste.

33 cL bottle. Copper pour, with a thin, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is a mixture of cream soda and ginger ale. Sugary sweet, with a light savory spice in the finish. Light body, high carbonation, and crisp. This is more of a flavored soda than a beer.

Drank while on holiday in Tobago and enjoyed on a very hot, sunny afternoon sat near the pool. Clear 275ml bottle, best before Dec 2008, drank Jun 2008. Poured into a cooled half pint tumbler it appeared a dull gold, light amber colour, but no head, hence the low score for looks. The smell was all about ginger, well what did you expect? Ginger was also the overiding flavour within the taste. It has a strange warm ginger feel, but refreshing and cooling as well, it was just what I needed at the time and my scores reflect that (with some common sense too).

Bottle from Total Wine in Fairfax. Flat yellow color. Aroma of ginger and toilet bowl cleaner. I can’t say taste is similar, because I haven’t tried toilet bowl cleaner yet. Taste is medicinal lemons.

Bottle from Oak Tree. Pours burnished gold with a little white foam. Strong ginger aroma. Flavor is sweet with ginger. A good dose of ginger. Love ginger, but not necessarily this brew. Still, it’s ginger!
