The secret is in the 2.5 pounds of spice per barrel for this fall brew. We add the pumpkin during the mash at precisely the right time to create just the perfect balance of malt, hops, pumpkin and spice.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small paperthin white head. The aroma is nutmeg and spice. Light spice and cinammon. Not much going on with this one.

This is the 200th rating of this bad boy, whoo hoo! Hazy brown color, thin beige head. Aroma of nutmeg an gourd. Taste resembles pumpkin pie, but it’s not overbearing.

One of the better pumpkin beers I have had in quite a while. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-caramel color with a medium sized orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was moderately strong sweet caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. The flavor was strong sweet caramel, cinnamon sugar, nutmeg and clove. There was a lightly boozy undertone. The finish was long with cinnamon sugar, caramel and nutmeg lingering. Fairly full bodied. Well done.

Bomber from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA, opened 6/28/11. This has a bit of age on it. Pours a hazy orange color with gobs of floating matter. Large creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of pumpkin, squash, clove and other spices. The taste is pumpkin, brown sugar, pie spices, a bit of squash. Medium-full bodied. Cracking this the wrong season, but its quite nice.

22 ounce bottle. Pours slightly hazy orange color with a foamy 2 finger white head with average retention that reduces to a very thin cap. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and brown sugar. Taste of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and some clove; with the pumpkin flavors in the background with some pie crust noticed. The finish is fairly dry, but there is some lingering notes of sweetness, with some spices. No bitterness noticed, but it fits this style perfectly. Alcohol was very well hidden, only a very small warming after the finish noticed. Quite drinkable because of the good flavor, and very smooth going down. Medium carbonation and body. I was actually letting this sit in the fridge for a while, afraid to try it, because I didn’t know what to expect. Most pumpkin beers can be done very badly, but this one is done very well, and I would definitely have it again. Delicious.

Clear light orange pour with a small white head. Pumpkin spice aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with some spice. No hops either in the flavor or aroma. Better than most.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber with two inches of off-white head. Smells of rich spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, as well as some pumpkin. OH a nice strong spiciness, lots of pumpkin pie flavor, including crust. Finihses with a creamy pepper.

Thanks James (Mr. Tampa Pourhouse). Bomber pours clear copper with off white head. The aroma has nice fresh and organic smelling pumpkin pie and graham cracker to go along with a modest amount of cinnamon and faint nutmeg spices. The taste is pretty smooth with notes of sweet pumpkin, a nice layer of graham cracker and growing sharp spicy notes. To midway it picks up a sense of brown sugar and malty sweetness. Well done pumpkin.

Light orange with a tan-ish head. Nutmeg, cinnamon, some light pumpkin, light biscuit and caramel malts. A decent amount of, but not cloyingly sweet, candied malt. Probably the same ingredients as many other pumpkin beers but this one has a complexity, depth, and overall quality feel to it that many lack. Great beer.
