From tap at Brussels Beer Project tasting at Cardinal 23.03.16. Ebony. Pale brown head. Aroma of sour black malt. Perhaps a hint of vanilla, lime and brittle. Taste of vanilla biscuits, coffe, brittle and old, dry chocolate (that has become grey). Also a hint of pine sap. Quite dry, Interesting.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Lightly toasted (rather than roasted) aroma, perfumed notes of tonka beans, hints of mild spices. Light bodied. The flavour is medium dry, still with slightly sweet and perfumed notes of tonka beans, also notes of chocolate. Very moderate hops.

Bottle shared by Erwin Van Moll @ Brewpub Van Moll. Opaque pitch black color, average sized brown head. Aroma is a bit weird and confusing. I get hints of chocolate and some green plants. Taste malts, moderately bitter, again a distant hint of chocolate and again something weird I can’t quite put my finger on. A bit thin texture, average body, soft carbonation. Hmm not really my thing.

Bottle shared. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma has strange floral aspects, malt, light chocolate, overripe dark fruit, a touch of licorice and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

26/11/2015 @home - 33cl bottle from Malt Attacks. Hazy dark brown with sticky tanned head. Nose is cinnamon, dark malts, chocolate, coconut. Taste is chocolate, light roast, cinnamon, some sweet caramel, coconut, a bit bitterness. Nice one, I liked the balance.

Tasting glass @ the brewpub. Poured out of a bottle, I think… That one is new at a bar for me. Black, little head. Nose is cold coffee, roasted cacao, sweet candy & coffee with herbal elements, a bit watery,… Taste is herbal pralines, sugar, dash soap, basic chocolate, sweet cold coffee, some powdery yeast & cacao,… Body is a bit thin & watery. There is a really nice chocolate taste running through this one (the tonka beans), that part is good but the base beer is too weak, bit watery with some odd notes. This one is only partially good. Now make, a thicker & heavier beer with more of those beans.
