From a 22 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavors of leather, licorice and some citrus. Bitter finish. Yummy.

Bottle split at the Cotteridge Convention, big thanks to LKS, 24/01/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is pine, earthy hop, dark maltings, cocoa rub, red berries, toffee. Taste comprises pine needle, treacle toffee, light charr, chocolate, bitter citric peel. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent boozey sequel CAN but there’s plenty out there that deliver more for less !

Bottle at the Cotteridge Convention thanks to Leighton. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, dark chocolate, dark chocolate. ash, treacle and dark fruits. The taste is bitter, rich roast, varnish, tar, charred wood, toffee, orange rind, sherbet, good deal of bitterness, coffee, touch of umami and some burnt stuff. Medium-fullish body and fine carbonation. Works very well for me. Tasty and very drinkable. CDA win.

24th Jan 2015: bottle shared at the Cotteridge Wine meet, cheers Leighton for this brew. Poured a rich, deep, dark brown with a tanned top. The aroma seemed to have a slightly burnt hint with mild citrus and chocolate notes. The taste had a sweet, yet bitter chocolate lead, with again some citrus and singed flavouring. The finish was moving towards a bitterness and bite not noticed at first in the sip.

Bottle share. Cotteridge Beano. More down the stout end of the spectrum, for me. Chocolate malts. Some bitterness. Thick palate.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention 2014. Picked up at New Beer Distributors in NYC. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy tan cap. The nose holds some old burnt pine, citrus rind and light cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with bittersweet chocolate, earth, dry pine and orange rind. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Bitter finish with further cocoa, scorched earth, more citrus rind, burnt wood. Good stuff.

Bottle at Cotteridge wine convention; hazy almost black pour with a thin creamy light tan head, chocolate and jam aroma, taste has dark fruits, chocolate malts, bitter finish.

Pour is a black with a tan head that slowly grew over the edge of the glass. Like a nitro beer. Aroma is decent roasted malt with a bit of sugar and hops. Flavor is a pretty darn good roasted malt with plenty of coffee. Finish leaves a nice roast on the tongue with a slick oily mouthfeel. The only thing I did not like is that the hops are way in the backround. This is all about the dark malt and could even be listed as a strong porter.
