Victoria has a complex malt profile balanced with loads of American Columbus hops, which contribute a citrus, spicy and sweet fruit flavour. The addition of HBC 472 (an experimental hop variety) touts a flavour combination of cream, vanilla and wood providing a light coconut and oaky, barrel-aged character. This beer will develop and change over time.

Nose is dark malts, spice, molasses, herb, toffee, fruit rinds.
Taste comprises chocolate shavings, oak, vanilla, spice, dark malts, light roast.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, drying close with a balanced spike of alcohol.
Tidy sipper.

A seriously impressive imperial stout with a wonderfully complex malt profile. Rich roasted depth with bold citrusy hop character. Spicy fruit notes, and a hint of vanilla with a touch of coconut. Full-bodied and beautifully layered, it manages to combine intensity with remarkable balance.

A 750 I have no recollection of buying! Bottle 24 of 100. Near opaque dark brown beer, a good tan head that has some legs. Airy palate, a mild dryness, good fine minerally carbonation. Tangy dark malts, never hinting at sour but, that dark ripe fruit tang. A touch of thin dark malt cream. A little earthy coffee. The HBC472 hops do provide a little extra, some soft coconut on the back end with a very light vanilla streak, not something I have noticed with this hop before. Perhaps the description is influencing me. Yeah, not a shouty Impy at all. Aside from the fact that it's nice to try and Impy that hasn't been overwhelmed by a barrel, this is subtlely really quite crushable. I can see and evening of ordering pints of this and then wondering why various faculties have stopped working! A sleeper!
