Canned. Pours dark with largish head. Roasty malt aroma, some pine malts as well. Quite good IMO.

On tap at Tin Bucket, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out fairly harsh burnt roasted malt, with fairly aggressive hopping. Flavour is along the same lines, with burnt roasted malt dominating, along with bitter piney hops on the underside. Nicely constructed - tastes better than it smells. Very good.

Draught @ Third Avenue Ale House. Dark brown with slight reddish tint, small frothy beige head, faint coffee aroma, medium carbonation, slightly sweet mocha taste, thin body, medium bitter coffee finish. Nice stout.

Can. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is smoke, caramel, and pine. Medium mouth, nice roast, light smoke, bitter finish, very good.

Overall its a nice interpretation of the style, but there was something in the flavor that didn’t hit my palate very well. Chalky aftertaste that was off putting. The pour, aroma, and color were all very well done, nothing too extraordinary, but appetizing. Even the flavor for the most part was fine, again, nothing too crazy, but this chalkiness in the aftertaste that became all I could taste, annoying.

16oz can. Burgundy hued black-brown. Soapy, foamy beige head. Sort of like a Brown IPA. Nice balance between the citrus hops and the brown malt. Not overbearing, the big malts and accompanying ABV are well incorporated. Toffee caramel chocolate. Well done.

Can. Chocolate malt and piney hops aroma... smells like a black IPA. Black brown with a huge thick, creamy tan head. Chocolate, roasty malt, and subtle piney hops flavor.... tastes like a black IPA. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smells, looks, tastes, and drinks like a black IPA.
