Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a clear deep golden with a white head. Sweet, malty biscuity nose with subtle hops. Rich, sweet malty body, again that typical biscuity American malt bill, chewy fruits, a solid dose of hops and some warming alcohol. 250313

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear amber orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice grassy hop note with some notes of toast and caramel. Flavor has much more of a toast note up front with an earthy wood note throughout and a bit of grassy hops.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Wine & Spirits in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on a very tired Monday after the Super Bowl, which should be observed as a national holiday. Appearance is a clear golden amber with a rich white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of citrus hops, a bit of spice, also caramel malt, has a nice aroma. Taste is surprisingly well balanced, winter ales typically go more malty and in this one the hops punch you just as much as the malt. Hops are middle ground between citrus and sprucey, has a unique spice note, malts are bready but there’s a sweetness in this as well. Medium to high carbonation, medium body. This is one solid winter ale, job well done!

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best by 02/15/2012. A bit of a gusher upon opening. Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention that reduces to a thick cap that lingers. Some decent lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, orange, pine, herbal, bread, pine, toasted malt, and light spiciness. Some nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of orange, grapefruit, pine, caramel, herbal, toasted malt, bread, and spiciness. Decent amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of bread, caramel, herbal spiciness, and citrus on the finish for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Very drinkable and smooth for 7.2%. Overall this is a very nice and drinkable amber ale. Nice hoppy and spicy flavor, with good malt balance.

On tap. Seemed aged. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a white head. Aromas are of esters, orange, marmalade, bready and a light caramel backbone. Flavors are bready, marmalade. Some decent bitterness. Quite muted. Tastes like this could be an old keg, some oxidized notes as well. Medium bubbles, soft carbonation.
