Shiner Hefeweizen (Hef-ay-vite-zen) is a classic unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat brew. Once poured into a glass, the distinctively cloudy Shiner Hefeweizen delivers a fresh, satisfying flavor from start to finish.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with small whitish foamy head, fresh citrus aroma, fizzy carbonation, slightly bitter citrus flavour, long finish with a bite. Has more bite than a regular hefeweizen.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a hazy, yellow orange appearance with an off white head. Zesty, lemon-lime, juicy citrusy, somewhat yeasty, dull wheat malty aroma. Tangy, somewhat sour, lightly metallic, orange fruity, a bit yeasty flavor. Not very good.

Bottle: Golden wheat color with cloudiness, small white head. Mild aroma is grass, yeast, and dry. Tastes a little dry and grass with more yeast. Lightly spicey, but no standouts. Not real heavy.

12 ounce bottle. Zillions of bubbles climbing through a cloudy yellow gold liquid. Thick creamy white head. Fragrant wheat malt nose. Zesty, lemony wheat malt flavor lacks the complexity associated with the Bavarian wheat style. No clove or banana esters. Refreshing, but rather lightweight.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly hazy gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of wheat and honey. Taste is medium sweet. Honey, citrus and wheat. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I would drink this again.

"This came with the Shiner Family Reunion Sixer. Bought it for $9 at a Fairfield Liquors in Newark DE. A - Gold, big head, very light and easy on the eyes S - Very weak smell. Is this high life? T - Wheat, mild hops and lemon M - Light, weak and very easy carbonation but not revolutionary O - Meh. This wheat beer is bottle conditioned. The first half of the bottle was bad until I realized some yeast was stuck to the bottom. I swirled it a bit and re-poured and got a lot more lemon and wheat taste but it still didn’t make up for the short comings."

Harris Teeter, DC variety sixer ($7): Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is predictably of banana and some spice. Taste is slightly sweet and not much past that. Basically, this is a tremendously boring and stripped down wheat beer. That being said, it is not at all offensive and is perfectly drinkable.
