Sample at Barley’s Taproom & Pizzeria. Clear amber color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at the brewery taproom during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white cap. Decent IPA marked by floral hops, sweet bread and pine. Good balance. Light-medium in body with average carbonation. Lightly sweet on the finish with fine resin, grass and ripening orange. Nice enough.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice grassy and pine note with a bit of earthy grain. Flavor is similar with a grassy and a growing pine note and a bit of resin.

On tap @ French Broad. Pours a clear golden orange appearance with a white head. Orange pledge, pine, sweet nose. A bit goopy. Fairly high sweetness and bitterness. Wrong, sticky mouth feel. Citrus. OK.

Bomber. Hazy, amber body. Frothy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of resin, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Long-lasting bitterness. Taste of raw grain, alpha acids. Leafy hops. Not a favorite combination, but this works better than most like this. Good balance, but couldn’t drink more than one glass.

22oz bomber to the dome. Unfiltered dulled orange-brown, thinnish, sort of translucent. Foamy off-white head. Sweet toffee aroma. Big chewy rye-like notes, as a previous rater noted, approaching Barleywine in a lot of it’s flavors. Solid all the way around, sort of grounded in a big East Coast manner. A good beer, not really nailing the style though.

Bomber from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours clear dark copper with a creamy/foamy beige head that’s trying to ring lace. Aroma of arguably citrus hop over somewhat toasted caramel - almost a brown sugar sensation. Med body. Flavor is citrus hop plus maybe a bit of veg - then there’s arguable caramel followed by a brown sugar bit. Not sticky, it just makes me think this stuff wanted to be a barley wine. Interesting version. Finishes nice and bitter.
