22oz bomber poured into a tulip. From Herchick, thanks Bob! Pours a clear dark ruby with about a finger of light tan head. Aroma is citrus dominated with a hint of pine resin and grapefruit. Taste is light bitter. Citrus and pine mostly. It seems the taste is way out of line with how good it smells. Medium bodied with a pretty slick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I’ve had one other beer from TBK and I liked that one a lot more. Regardless, very drinkable.

From a trip to Cleveland. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized foamy orange-beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was very tangy with notes of sour caramel, pine, grapefruit, lemon and a touch of nut. The flavor was bitter and tangy with notes of caramel, pine, grapefruit and lemon and light notes of nut and bread. Medium length finish and medium body. Ok.

22 ounce bottle, no freshness date. Pours crystal clear red-orange color with a nice 2 fingers of dense khaki head with amazing retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap that lasts. Some nice lacing clings to the sides of the glass as well. Aromas of caramel, toasted malt, orange, grapefruit, light pine, and biscuit. Some nice aromas, but they are a bit weak at first. They improve as the beer warms up. Taste of big caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, pine, orange, and spiciness. Nice amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, citrus, and pine on the finish for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very nice creamy mouthfeel with smooth drinking. No alcohol noticed in the taste or finish. Great balance of flavor and bitterness; with the malts being a bit more prominent. Overall this is an excellent IPA/Amber ale. Delicious flavor and great balance.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Dublin. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium frothy light brown head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of fruity, floral and citrus hops with some caramel malts. The taste is fruity, floral and resin hop notes, some tea and stone fruits and a maltiness in the background. Medium bodied.

This beer pours a mostly clear reddish-brown color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and caramel malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character with grapefruit and sweet malt notes. Touches of pine as well. The finish hoppy with a lingering citrus aftertaste. Solid IPA overall.

Bottle via a trade. Rating is from a practice BJCP Scoresheet. Scored as a 14B. The numbers in this rating reflect ratebeer’s hedonistic scale and not my judging numbers.
Aroma: Initial impressions are pine sap, molasses, rotten orange and caramel. Light notes of tropical fruit and tangerine. Some fruity esters. Malt aroma is a bit too prominent and ranges from a nutty astringent note to a sticky sweet syrupy caramel. Too sweet. Hops are a bit faded or otherwise overshadowed.
Appearance: Deep bronze hue with a persistent off-white head. Hazy appearance. More than a few shades too dark for the style. Less caramel (or other dark malts) would be to style.
Flavor: Bitter, tangerine and citrus notes from the hops. Hops appear a bit faded. Rotten oranges. Very malt forward at this point. Hop flavors are low or have faded. Light esters. Lingering bitterness and an astringency in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Some astringency from the grain that is a bit harsh. Lingering bitterness. Not quite dry enough (unfermentables are a bit too prevalent). Carbonation is medium to high and supports the body well.
Overall impressions: I feel that this beer is not quite as fresh as I could hope, but I still see problems that would appear in a fresh sample. The beer is too sweet, and is too malt forward for the style. Cutting back on the caramel malts would yield a better beer stylistically and address the problems of sweetness, color and body. The hop aromas and flavors are not as strong as I would like, but the bitterness is spot on.

Bomber courtesy of crizay. Bomber pours clear brilliant amber with tan head. The aroma is spicy, herbal and nearly white wine like and then tangelo and orange juice. The taste is similar and rich with spicy to herbally like hops and then firm malt sweetened tangelo and grapefruit followed by a white wine like sensation that adds to the perceived semi dry finish. Solid brew with a thick slab of yummy bitter hops.
