Location: Sampled at Tap NY, 4/27/13

Aroma: This one had a nice oakey and malty nose, some chocolate, wood, and dark malts
Appearance: It poured a dark brownish color with a light brown head on it
Flavor: The taste is wood/oak, some dark malts and roast, with a little sweetness as well
Palate: The body is on the full side, it has a pretty interesting mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This beer impressed me. I liked it quite a bit. It has some good complexity to it, and overall, it just works pretty nicely.

Rich deep brown body with a thick, very fast dying two centimetre tall light brown head - nice. Super strong aroma of whiskey, deep alcohol, raisins, roasted malt, toffee, caramel and way more whiskey - that is really strong. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive roasted malt up front with a huge hit of whiskey, a bit of bourbon and a decent amount of vanilla - strong and nice. Aftertaste is quite potent with a little earthiness, a lot of roasted malt flavour, a decent amount of caramelised sugars and a ton more of the whiskey notes. Overall, a nice full flavoured beer without a ton of body and seemingly without the huge kick of alcohol. Nice to sample - not my favourite beer, but I was happy to try this and definitely worth trying to find. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$7.49 sampled back in upstate New York at home in New Paltz, New York on 08-September-2012.

Bomber from Half Time. Pours very dark brown/black with a slight tan head. Aromas of chocolate and wood. Near full bodied. Lively carbonation. Flavor is caramel/treacle followed by chocolate and oaky wood. With time it goes oakly astringent. Flavor stays constant, but there is a little smooth burnt malt to go with the oak and chocolate. A little vanilla/bourbon is always lingering. It’s almost tart. Suggests it’s going to go sour, but there’s just too much malt for that to be convincing. All in all it’s a little complex, and a damn fine ale.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of Kinz. Thanks! Sampled at the 11th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 4/17/10. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. The aroma is very strong bourbon with notes of toffee, oak and hops. The taste is bourbon, leafy hop notes with some bitterness, faint roasty notes. Some peppery wood notes. Also a weird vegetal note almost like roasted red peppers. Medium bodied. Decent.

Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours pure mahogany with thin light tan head. The aroma is whiskey moving into some oak and a sense of dark malt roastiness. The taste begins with a short pulse of dark roasted malts and then moving toward oak and whiskey and the back to more whiskey and oak again. This brew has a pleasing balance between barrel notes and beer-y notes.

courtesy of jcwattsrugger pours dark brown, tan head. Aroma light whiskey, malty nose and chocolate. Flavors, mild whiskey, roasted malts, grainy, chocolate, fresh oak whiskey flavors, just the right balance for the style and abv, whiskey not overpowering the overall profile that remains light.

April 2004. Dark brown ale with moka head. Light vanilla aroma. Roasted malts and bitter chocolate taste. Watery light bodied which would benefit from malt injection.
