Oaky and pretty foul. Super oaky. Hazy maroon without much head or lacing. Bitter and boozy like a lost your job drunk. Tap at Big hunt.

2010, 10.5% abv bottle thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a quite murky deep bronze to amber hue with a medium sized offwhite head that fades to a ring. Big aroma of booze, sweet cara malts, stewed fruits, figs, dates, marmalade and honey. Very sticky smelling yet pretty refined. Flavors are malty, sweet, toasty, honeycomb, tea, marmalade and raisins. Lots of crystal malts, yet surprisingly not quite as sticky as expected. Medium to full body, medium carbonation with some alcohol.

On draft at the Mad Fox Barley Wine Festival, Falls Church VA. Pours an almost clear amber with a creamy off white head that receded leaving lots of lacing. Caramel and raisin notes in the nose. Viscous mouth feel with medium carbonation. Flavors of honey, caramel and citrus hops. Alcohol strong in the bitter finish.

From the October 2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-bronze color with a medium sized foamy orange-beige head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was semi sweet and boozy with notes of caramel, honey and faint vague fruits. The flavor was sweetish, bitter and boozy with moderate notes of honey and toffee. Long, boozy honey finish. Moderately full boded. Too much booziness. Ok.

Amber to reddish brown body. Fruity, citric, grainy aroma. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Quite well balanced, but not very complex (bit subttle).

Bottle. Amber body with a shorty, frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Malty aroma of caramel, cookie, dough and alcohol. No hop aroma of speak of. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightluy bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. Very hot finish. Tasty, but fairly simple. Too much alcohol. Nice balance of bitterness to hold the malts in check, even with some age on this bottle.

Bottle. Gold color, not much head or lacing. Pretty much a straightforward caramel color and flavor barleywine.
