Draft. Mahogony beer with a dark cream colored head. Toffee and oak aroma. Oak flavor with toffee/caramel and some tartness. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Toffee and oak lingers with a light tartness.

Pours hazy brown into a snifter. Significant tan head recedes leaving spider lacing to mottle surface. Oak aromas. Medium bodied with front to back oak and a slightly hot sour hop finish.

Tap, City Beer Store. What in the what? This beer seemed like a mess of a hoppy imperial brown ale. I’ve heard that some brett is evident in the bottled version, but still, if you’re tasting sour from the tap, you’ve got a more sensitive tongue than I. It pours brown and opaque with a small, tan head. The aroma is all sweet caramel malt and pine resin hops. There’s a very light fruity oak character, but it was extremely mild. The taste is sweet malt extract with a ton of blandly bitter, pine-resiny hops. A muddy cacophony of meh. Mouthfeel is harshly hoppy and somewhat sticky. I’m normally a big fan of De Proef, but I don’t get this beer.

Two bottles in the last two days. Pours with a huge tan head over a deep amber body. Aroma is hoppy, brown sugar, vinous notes with some flowers. Taste is bitter, vinous, mildly tart (maybe), wine, some adjunct notes. Long bitter finish. Lively bubbles. Notes of candi sugar.
