Serum is our version of a Double(Imperial) India Pale Ale. It is aggressively hopped at several stages of the brewing process including a dry hopping that takes place little by little over a 2 week period. With an OG close to 19Plato, this beer is big and hoppy, yet has a strong malt backbone that keeps the huge hop bitterness from being overbearing.

Tap. Pours clear orange, minimal head or lacing. Aroma is perfume, a bit medicinal, candy? Odd. Flavor is really sweet, tangerine perhaps, lots of backing perfume, medium bitter. Medium body, flat as a board. Sticky sweet. Ewww.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy/semi-hazy burnt orange color with a slim finger’s worth white foamy head that quickly dissipated leaving some clingy messy lacing.
The smell had some sweet apricot roaming over top of some light orange and lemon. Wet fresh grassy underneath rides a light caramel maltiness.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine and leave a dry fruity aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely as a DIPA, the bitterness is there to leave an adequate harshness.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA, nothing over the top, but it fits the style and I like the apricot in it.

Some citrus and tangerine on the head of this. OK malt backbone, and balance is decent. Good if nothing super original. Tap at BWI brewpub.

Some east coast brewers can make great IPAs, and this is one of them. In your face bitterness, but buttery smooth on the back end, super thick creamy head, lacing coats the glass. Plenty warm and glowing.

Draught. Dark yellow hazy apperance, off-white foamy head, floral hops aroma, low carbonation, sweetish hoppy taste with doughy undertones, hint of citrus, medium finish. Not a really very good DIPA.

Had this draft beer during the 7/4 beer tour 2014 at the Bocktown. Sweet mild aroma like a friendly fruity perfume. Yes, from the first sip its strong and mouth coating syrupy. A little lighter than most double ipa. Could actually be in the regular ipa style. Quite alky on the uptake. The finish does have this saddle thing going on.

Tap, duclaw bar BWI. Hazy amber, creamy offwhite layer. Grapefruit, grape, pine hop notes on a creamy medium full body.grassy aftertaste. Wellbalanced. Pleasant drink.

Pours deep, clear amber into a tulip. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Resin and vegetable aromas. Sweet caramel and nuts upfront turning to mild resin in the hot finish.
