Bottle shared by tfontana, thank you Tom. Aroma is chocolate with Belgian type yeast. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a steady amount of peated malt and a touch of smoke. Not my favorite flavor profile.

Bottle pour from Liquor Junction, Reading. Opaque dark brown with creamy ring of head and splotchy lacing. Aroma is roasty/woody/earthy/peat. Taste follows aroma. Smooth, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Not what I would call classic for the style but definitive in its own way and enjoyable.

Big, rich, dark, and very roasty with some subtle fruit, and woody sweetness. Rich mouth feel, good carb. Medium to high bitterness, roasty, semi sweet finish, with some coffee, and soy overtones.

Bought at Liquor Shed. No dating.
It pours pitch black with a great head of foam and lacing. Looks are top notch.
Smells of molasses, caramel, chocolate, roasted malt.
The taste has all of that but doesn't seem very vibrant compared to the smell. Kinda blah.
Good enough mouthfeel.
One and done, I reckon.

Bouteille de 750 ml dégustée le 13 Avril 2018. Chocolat et café avec une petit fond de viande au nez. De couleur noire avec une bonne mousse crémeuse et des reflets roux. Liquoreuse en bouche avec chocolat au lait crémeux, café, et aussi cette petite sensation de viande. Sa texture grasse et son amertume de torréfaction sont vraiment à point. L’alcool est décelable mais pas agressif. C’est vraiment le chocolat qui est en évidence et la torréfaction intense.

Bottle from Saveur Biere. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate and licorice. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Sweet and roasted moderate bitter finish. Oily and soft. 070118

Very well-balanced and super smooth. Flavor has some nice rosti and a bit of Toffee a little sweet up front and in the Finish but not overly so. Very nice finish.

Voici une Porter de bonne facture, qui n’est pas forcément forte comme l’indique le brasseur sur l’étiquette, mais qui jouit d’un bon équilibre. Légère déception cependant sur les arômes, pour lesquels on aurait apprécié un peu plus de complexité autour de la ligne aromatique et davantage d’élégance dans les alliances. En verre, ce Baron Noir est brun foncé, pourvu d’une faible effervescence et d’une mousse beige clairsemée à sa surface. Le nez, intéressant, laisse apparaitre à la fois la fraîcheur du houblon, la douceur du malt et la force de l’alcool. Les arômes principaux en sont le chocolat, le café et le fruit avec de la pêche et de la banane. L’attaque est plutôt bien équilibrée sur des arômes de café, chocolat de fruits (pêche notamment) parés d’une pointe de réglisse. La deuxième bouche présente alors un très beau travail sur le malt sur des arômes de chocolat, toffee et de fruits noirs. L’arrière bouche en parallèle se positionne sur une amertume d’intensité moyenne accompagnée d’arômes de café et de réglisse. La montée en puissance de l’alcool, progressive se laisse percevoir à compter de la troisième bouche avant un final long sur des aromes de café de réglisse mais surtout de mélasse donnant une bonne présence en bouche mais manquant quelque peu de finesse. A noter également le sucre bien présent et sur la limite. L’alcool quant à lui est très bien intégré et marque bien sa présence avec un titrage qui pourtant n’est que de 7 % Abv. En conclusion, un travail intéressant pour une bière réussie mais pas totalement aboutie. Un peu plus de classe manque à cette bière. Vivement le Comte Noir!

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a white to off white foamy head dissipates appropriately. Messy run about lace.
The aroma starts off with a ruddy milk and dark chocolate blending with some candied dark fruits. Seems like there’s a subtle dried hoppy grassiness underneath. Light earthiness.
The flavor brings together the previously mentioned aromas sweetly layered with a delicate roast underneath. Smooth bitter yet somewhat wet sort of dark fruity aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable smooth feel to it. Low carbonation yields to the wet feel on my tongue.
Overall, nicely done Baltic Porter that I would have again.
