A complex, robust porter, Bad Moon is medium to full bodied with a slightly sweet, malty presence combined with hints of chocolate and coffee. This is a full-bodied beer that gets its chocolate and coffee-like flavors and color from the use of generous amounts of roasted malts. It has a smooth finish and a balanced hop character.

Tap. Pours deep reddish black, medium tan creamy head, dissipates slowly, solid lacing. Aroma is roasty with plenty of ashtray and burned malts. Flavor is heavy roast, hints of smoke, burned malts, light plus sweet and light plus bitter, some acidity from the roast. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel. A bit too burned perhaps, but otherwise solid.

Thanks Dana for the bottle.
This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing roaming all around the glass.
The smell had a roasty robust black coffee with a sharp bitter hoppiness (slight earthy pine).
The taste was mainly sharp roasty robust toasty and dark coffee, light chocolate does enter in a bit at the end.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but nothing overbearing. It carried a nice sharp bitter roasty coffee rolling over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good porter that I would have again.

Location: Nitro at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12

Aroma: Has a roasted malt nose, with a good amount of coffee
Appearance: This one has a clear brown pour and a lasting nitro head
Flavor: It has a roasted malt flavor with some dry coffee, it is fairly un-sweet overall
Palate: This one is smooth and creamy, with a nitro feel, and a medium-plus body
Overall Impression: I liked this one. It has a nice porter flavor, and it works well on nitro. It has a good feel to it as well.

Draft at BWI. Dark brown, small beige head. Aroma of coffee grounds and caramel. Tastes like a dilute Starbucks coffee soda, if there is such a thing.
