Oud Beersel Kriek Lambic from Brouwerij Oud Beersel is a classic among Belgian beers. Created by adding whole fresh cherries to young lambic, which provides both seasoning and sparks another fermentation resulting in a product of great complexity. It has the acidity of champagne, the bouquet and delicate flavor of cherries, and balance of almondy dryness. Oud Beersel Kriek is the missing link between beer and wine.

Deep red, purply colour. Not much head. The aroma is cherry, and the palate is this sweet, cherry character. Sort of heavy body. And quite candyish.Well, it ends up as passable.

Shared 12.7 oz. bottle. Pours a dark red with a pinkish/purplish head. Aroma of red wine and cherries. Taste is both tart and sweet, but not overly so. More cherries, red wine, and oak notes. Decent, but not quite as good as the non-export version.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a hazy pink with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong cherry pith, funk, oak, yogurt. Medium mouth, tart cherry, funky, light finish, very good.

375 ml bottle into tulip, best by 10/14/2013. Pours slightly cloudy brick red color with a nice and dense 2 fingers of pink colored head with fantastic retention that reduces to a lasting lacing cap. Thick lacing clings to the sides of the glass as well. Aromas of tart cherries, cherry juice sweetness, spices, and a bit of vinegar. Some nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of sweet cherries, spices, and a bit of tart cherry as well. Pretty dry finish, but there is a bit of cherry sweetness that hangs around for a bit. Light-medium bodied with medium carbonation. A bit of a creamy and syrupy mouthfeel is present. No alcohol noticed at all as expected for being 4%. Sweetness of this beer is not cloying at all, and this drinks extremely well. Overall a very nice and tasty kriek! I will have to check out the oude kriek vieille soon.

I am honored to have tasted this beer. Surprizingly available here in this area but only 17 ratings? WAY! Beautiful look and swirling pour. Sour cherries and vinegar olfactory. Big and sour farmy youser. Fizzing sour cherry pie filling, simply lovely. Words cannot explain the enjoyment in these beers. Some of the best beer available in my area. Lovely lambic, lovely lambic. Sad this session is over. Need more, dee-lish experience. Oh my.
