Bière forte de couleur noire. Les malts torréfiés utilisés lors de sa fabrication la rendent très obscure et lui donne des arômes de café. La bière d’hiver c’est la Jean dit Laforge. Fort et robuste, il fabriquait de ses mains, les outils des cultivateurs de l’Île d’Orléans. Il était quelqu’un et sa bière… est quelque chose. Ses effluves de malt, de chocolat et de vanille vous le confirmeront.

0.473l can. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and mild coffee. Pours cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy light brown head. Taste starts with roasted malt, mild coffee and dried fruit, following is earthy and leathery, mouthfeel is smooth and warm, while finish is average bitter. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. 10% not felt at all…

Odd aroma for the style. Lots of nuts, and some banana, reminds me of banana bread, with some roster malt and a touch of smoke. Flavor is much of the same but there is a prominent bitterness that is interesting. It’s really quite bitter and really sticks with you after the nutty breadiness. Interesting take on the style.

Bouteille 500ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka foncé laissant une dentelle éparse. Arôme de malt torréfié, café, chocolat, vanille léger, noisettes grillées. Goût de malt torréfié, chocolat en fin de bouche, café en arrière-goût, alcool très bien camouflé. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen-faible.

Nice aromas of roast malt, vanilla and cocoa. Even a touch of anise. Jet black with mocha head and not much lacing. Texture a little syrupy. Finishes bitter with light sourness. Just a little light for style. Enjoyed the Monsieur d’Esgly better. Bottle from Delires du Terroir.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet milk chocolate with Bailey’s qualities, milky and nice. In mouth, a smooth milky chocolate, B52, very nice, lightly roasted notes in finale, nice. Bottle at Hivernale, Gatineau, Jan. 20 2012.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty smoky chocolate and vanilla aroma. Roasted malty sweetish chocolate and vanilla flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and vanilla finish.

Bottle thanks to Arch. Pours black. Tan head. Nose/taste of black licorice, roast chocolate and black malt, vanilla and coffee. Some spiciness in taste. Overly carbonated.

500mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, light cocoa, espresso and vanilla beans. Flavour is much more roasted than the nose suggests, very pronounced dark roasted flavours, with secondary tones of espresso, dark chocolate and vanilla beans. Very enjoyable.
