Draught (had as Bokkereyder Pinot Kriek). Ruby red colour with a small pinkish head. Aroma is sour cherries, some grapes, mild white wine like elements, with also quite wooden notes. Flavour is cherries, some grapes, mild white wine and some tannin like dry tones. Refreshing, but rather dry at the same time.

Bottle, many thanks Koelschtrinker! Ruby color with hardly any head. Aroma is cherry skin, marzipan, red grapes. Taste is cherry skin, earthy, leather, tannins, dry finish. A bit murked mouthfeel due to the yeast in the pour, but good stuff in terms of flavour. Lower carbonation.

Deutliche Säure. Vollmundig kirschiger, mild holziger Beginn. Das Fruchtaroma steigert sich noch deutlich, intensiv, langer fruchtiger Abgang. Sehr gut. 8/10/11/11//11

Backlog. Sample @ CBC 2016. Pours a darp deep red with a pink/purple head. Nose is just super funky deep cherry juice. Taste is tart, has some berries and cheesy funk and tannic-like leathery nice.

Bottle @ De Prael. Ruby red color. Oak, cherry, vinous notes in the aroma. Cherry flavor, sweetish sour, with vinous notes. Almonds. Lovely and quite complex.

(2015 bottle sample @ CBC 2016 Green Session, Copenhagen) Pours a deep purple with a pink head. Aroma is intense Schaarbeekse kriek putting up a wall that's penetrated by oak, red wine grapes, strawberries, juicy and funky, slightly vinous overall. Flavour is again loads of Schaaarbeekse cherry, moderately hefty and fruity pinot noir, oak, strawberry, cherry and grape skins, leathery, moderately funky, hugely vinous, rather tannic. Sweet-sour at the start finishing quite dry with long fruity aftertaste. Smooth medium body grips the mouth, very low carbonation. Beautiful stuff, the interplay of the wine barrel and the cherries is pretty much pitch-perfect for me, it's expressive but it's also perfectly balanced. I would love to have this one again.
