The winner of Baltimore Magazine’s “Best Beer in Baltimore 1998.” We’d like to thank the smooth, roasted malt flavor. The mild hop presence. The little people.

On sampler tray at BWI. Plain brown color, off white head, decent lacing. Aroma of caramel. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly hoppy, with a bit of cocoa in the finish. Drinkable.

Location: Draft at the Fells Point Brew Pub, 9/6/09
Aroma: Mostly got caramel in the nose, some bread
Appearance: Clear copper/caramel color, beige head
Flavor: Caramel and toasty malts and a light hoppiness as well
Palate: Medium body, decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This is a pretty decent amber. Overall it is a decent beer, but not outstanding beer. Could use more complexity, but its a decent drinkable brew.

Sampled at the Arundel Mills location. Pours a clear brownish cranberry color with a medium head. Poor head retention and lacing. The aroma is faint with notes of caramel and a finish of leafy hops. Taste is nuts, plum, caramel and very faint hops. Medium bodied.

An orange to red amber ale with a thin off white head. A light caramel and butterscotch aroma, with nice fruity esters. In mouth, a sweet malt with light British hops. Lighter bodied. On tap at Duclaw Baltimore, Dec. 29 2008.

[Draft at the Bowie location] An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is light with notes of caramel - too light for my liking. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and bread, and with a light note of metal in the finish. I find it kind of boring - lacking character.

Darker color than other amber ales with a slim white head. Color is closer to a porter than an amber. The flavor is malty with slight hints of fruit. Very clean on the palate with a slightly bitter finish. This beer is missing something though and too subtle to be as touted as it was.
