4 oz draft pour at Heavy Seas Alehouse in Baltimore. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of sweet malt, honey, light floral notes. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel, tropical fruit, honey. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.

Bottle @ home via jcnielsen courtesy toss. Pours a surprisingly dark orange appearance with a thin off white head. Some orange candy, sweet toasted malty, bready aroma with a touch of cardboard. Carbonation is dull. Some citrus fruits in the flavor. Dull toasted grainy flavor. Strong finish. Not very good. Maybe a fresher bottle could have been better but I don’t think so.

Bottle shared with Ariel and his brother at Beer Market Jaffa. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Clear deep golden to amber with a beige head. Malty aroma with a bit of caramel, honey notes and a bit of floral and herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel and decent herbal hops bitterness. Medium-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Pretty nice and easy-drinking.

12 ounce bottle into pilsener glass, best before Jan 2013. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, apple, bread, cracker malt, floral, herbal, and light peppery hops. Damn nice aromas with good strength and balance of malt/hop notes. Taste of lemon zest, pear, orange zest, bread, cracker malt, apple, floral, grass, and peppery hops. Good amount of floral citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pear, bread, cracker malt, apple, floral, grass, and peppery hops on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice flavor balance with good complexity; with a nice malt/hops flavors balance; and zero cloying flavors on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial Pilsner! Great balance of hop/malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Into my pilsener glass, it pours a light golden color and leaves the same color body. A one inch white foamy head appears and settles to a half-centimeter fairly quickly and leaves a nice show of speckled spider web lacing. Carbonation rises at a moderate pace. The smell has the malts up front with a nice fighting punch from the noble hops helping to give a decent spiciness. The taste is well balanced between the malts and hops helping to make it slightly sweet and bitter in different ways. The palate is about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue, great balance all around. I would say this is very drinkable. Overall, this is good and I’d come back to it.
