Bottle, 75cl, wine cork. An unclear, murky brown beer with a minimal sized beige head. Just a few bubbles actually. It’s heavily oxidized, with toffee, prunes and rye bread. Some alcohol and old leather too. It’s full-bodied, warming and rather flat on the palate. Rye bread, chocolate and prunes in the flavor, as well as a nice bitterness, alcohol and oxidation. Lasting finish. Feels more like an English Barley Wine than a Belgian Quad or similar. Nice, but too oxidized. Well, it’s six years old, it’s excused. 150619

Bottle 750ml @ Hotel room, Comfort Inn Downtown, Washington, DC
Pours hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, very oxidized, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, oxidized and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Way past it’s prime..

ChrisOs Kook Tasting. Hazy brown beer. Old malt nose. Light palate, low carbonation. A spritzy barleywine! Not bad.

Bottled. A hazy red-brown beer with notes of over ripe fruit, malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, caramel juice, alcohol, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

trade with forgetfu cloudy brown/orange. small white head. aroma is belgian yeast, hops, slighly oxidized hops, alc. still nice and complex aroma. flavor is caramelly, belgian yeasty, woody, sweet woody vanilla notes, faint fruity note. alc. plays well in, giving a spicy push to the flavor.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy amber with a tiny off-white head. Sweet caramel and oxidized fruits in the nose, a little aroma hops too. Solid body, very low carbonation, lots of caramel, a little spiciness and quite some oxidization. Quite some heat in the finish. By no means a great beer, but not exactly bad either. 030511

bottle at Morrie’s tasting(12Nov10)pours orange with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet maple wood and syrup notes some orange peel as well. Flavor is extremely sweet with lots of candied sugar and spicy Belgian yeast. Overly sweet and hard to drink.

In RI for New years so thought it’d be nice to have a RI beer to celebrate not the greatest choice. pours a dirty rust unappealing brown. smells kinda nice and tastes of brown sugar, toffee, caramel, dried fruit and bread. too sweet and alcoholy, but finished the bottle in small sips as i played beer pong with bud light.

Bottle at first DC tasting of 2010, tasted after the 07 and 08. This was the lightest of the three. Still no head and no lacing. Aroma of apples and vinegar. Flavor had unbalanced tartness and sweetness, with lots of alcohol, and no body or complexity. Our Newport flight was a rapid descent, and this one crashed and burned.
