Clear pale golden colour, mid-size foamy white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma sweet malts, grain, hay. Flavour medium sweet and light bitter, malty, grainy. Sweetbitter finish, papery, light spicy notes, mediocre lager, drinkable.

From bottle at restaurant Addis Abeba, together with Huub. Just an normal lager. Not much hop, bright color. Nice to have with the Ethiopian food.

Ok as far as Ethiopian beers go. Had a few of these as I kept thinking they’d bring the regular one and I’d get another tick. Some mash malt. Crispish finish. Medium to lower tier among Ethiopian lagers.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Homer321. Ethiopia tick. Thanks Homey! Pours a bit hazy dark yellow appearance with a thin white head. Light honey, papery/cardboard, corny, unpleasant aroma. Tangy, green apple, chewy bready, cardboard flavor. No.

They had this one at Tana Ethiopian restaurant in Pittsburgh. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark golden-amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweetish with moderate tropical fruits - papaya, mango and pineapple. The flavor was bread and honey with tart and tangy mixed tropical fruits. The finish was long and tangy with lingering honey, tropical fruits and bread. Fairly full bodied. Odd but interesting.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange tinged gold with a bubbly white head. Aromas of citrus and grain. Near medium body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is mildly citric, and the body went watery as the carbonation left. Finishes with a nice bit of noble hop. Decent.

A mild, inoffensive lager, typical of all lagers brewed in all developing countries. I know the Ethiopians can do better than this. Pass.

Pours very pale gold to straw with wafer thin bright white head. The aroma is nice thick malt sweetness, grainy malts and corn. The taste is sweet sugary flavor notes with mild corn and faint grain in the background. The finish is thin and watery with a hint of metal.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Some shaman did put a spell on this African brew ... well it actually made the beer a lot more enjoyable than their carribean counterparts. Although not the best, the beer remained drinkable. Aroma and taste are the same. Loaded with grains, leaves a metalic aftertaste. Add something of corn with very light sweetness. Hard to make this beer look better than what it is.

Bottle. Hazy pale yellow color with a disappearing big white head. Aroma of malt, a bit of hops and hints of fruits. Flavor starts sweet with some malt and finishes with light bitterness and notes of hops. Rather watery. Not good but nothing really offensive.
