22 Oct 2012 saw me, my wife and 26 other members of the CAMRA Investors club have a wonderful afternoon as guests of the brewery: after a film show and giuded tour of the brewery we adjourned to the tasting celler bar where we were given seven different brews to taste: I had plenty of each! This was the most tasteless of the beers offered: I had to have two glasses (on-tap), just be sure it was as bland as I thought it was after the first glass. Looked like Mr Average Pilsner, golden, clear and of course it was as fresh as you are going to get: but it was just a wet fizzy drink that a few hops and a hand full of malts had been dropped in. Very disappointing, especially as we were being looked after so well. I’ve been kind with my scoring!

30 cl. bottle @ de Apenheul. Yellow with a white head. Malty nose with some hops. Good strong pilsener taste with more hops than usual in a Dutch pilsener.

Einmal ein Bier, dessen Namen drauf schließen lässt, welchen Zustand man am nächsten Morgen nach dem Feiern hat. Ein billiges, einfaches Helles, das keinen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlässt.

Draught at the Bovenste Molen in Venlo. A straightforward mass-market pilsner; pale straw in colour with a billowing white head; with a rich, sweet, grainy body and some grassy hops to finish. Easy drinking and unexciting.

Small glass on tap. Ok white head. Clear golden pour. Decent enough pilsner.

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow / golden color, decent sized white head. Not the typical malty-pilsener smell, it is malty but slightly "off" somehow. Tastes ok, decent carbo, low to medium body.

Appearance: Yellow golden. Fizzy. Some white head. Aroma: Not much at all, presumably hops and malt. Taste: Fresh. Nice hops and malt. Good, but standard. Info: 330ml can, 12/6-2011

Draft at some place in Amsterdam. Clear gold pour with a fading white head. Crispy malts on the nose with some grassy hops. Medium sweet flavor, notes of cereal and crisp bitters. Light bodied with average carbonation. Nice, crisp and faintly dry finish, refreshing, lightly sweet. Nice beer.

Draught in Maastricht. Golden with a thin white head. Light hop aroma. Hops and malts in the flavour. Lots of zest in the finish

Fles 30cl thuis. Goede pils, lekker bittere smaak, hoptonen en ergens een zoetje.
